Congratulations to the following organizations as they have  been chosen to participate in i Fratelli Pizza DoughNation program.

Valley Ranch and Las Colinas: Irving Symphony League

Funds to provide scholarships for students majoring in the arts and to support the symphony by providing volunteers, hospitality, and promotion.

Plano West: Mitzvah Mavens

Mitzvah Mavens uses funds to buy yarn, crochet hooks, and ribbon to keep their needles clicking!  They make handmade items for babies, lap robes for the elderly, items for troops, and healing shawls and chemo hats for cancer patients.  Help Mitzvah Mavens provide comfort for our community.

Grapevine: Colleyville Heritage High School Marching Band

School funding has been cut, and the band needs assistance purchasing copyrighted  music, paying contest fees, transporting students and instruments, and replacing uniforms.  Any help is appreciated!

Southlake: GCS Moms’ League benefitting Christ’s Haven for Children

GCS Mom’s League is a local organization for stay-at-home mothers and fathers.  They have adopted Christ’s Haven for Children in Keller as their charity focus this year.  Christ’s Haven is a private foster care facility (with no government funding) which was founded in 1954.  Donations defray the costs of providing a loving family environment to foster children.

Flower Mound: Kingdom Come Partners

Kingdom Come Partners is organizing a medical mission to India.  Funds will provide medicine and eyeglasses to the needy and support a private orphanage and safe house for women.  The mission trip is scheduled for March 9.

Uptown and Park Cities: Friends of White Rock Lake Dog Park

White Rock Lake Dog Park was the first-ever legal off-leash dog park in North Texas.  Established over ten years ago, the park continues to be a great success.  The Friends of White Rock Lake Dog Park are seeking funds to make improvements including greater access for individuals with restricted mobility.

Coppell: Cottonwood Creek Elementary Kindergarten

Funds raised would support updated technology in the kindergarten classrooms.

Please help these organizations spread the word of their fundraiser via email blasts, Facebook posts, tweets, flyers, announcements, meetings, word-of-mouth, etc.  The more promotion…the bigger the check.  Be a top earning group and i Fratelli plans to partner with you again and again.

Individuals who place an order on Monday, February 13 from their neighborhood i Fratelli Pizza and mention the organization of the week will help that organization receive 15% of the purchase total. The sales will be tallied and a check will be provided soon after the fundraiser.

We are working to ensure that every organization nominated has the opportunity to participate.  Stay tuned for more details.

Thank you for all your support,

Your friends at i Fratelli Pizza.

The Typical Cole Family Thanksgiving Meal

Posted on Posted on

We asked our 77-year-old Dad to describe a typical Cole Family of Irving Thanksgiving meal.  He rattled off 13 items within 60 seconds.

Two birds:
One for now and another for turkey sandwiches for the “big game” later.

Five starches:
Mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn bread dressing, rolls, peas (not enough vitamins to be a real veggie)?

One gravy:
A big ladle with bowls on every table.

Two vegetable-starch casseroles:
Broccoli-rice-cheese and, yes, that ever-popular green-bean-mushroom-soup concoction with fried onion strings on top.

Two fruits:
“If you don’t include the Brothers,” he said wryly, “Waldorf salad and cranberry sauce (available with and without skins).”

One dessert:
Pie including pecan, chocolate, pumpkin, and often apple.

He has difficulty remembering some things — like taking his meds, coming up with the words to complete his daily crossword puzzles, or quoting who said what to whom. But the Thanksgiving dinner is still a no-brainer for Dad — mostly because it was a favorite of our Mom’s, whom we miss dearly.

What’s your typical Thanksgiving meal?

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
In gratitude,

The Cole Brothers:  George, David, Mike, and Darrell
